Friday Hill – Times Like These In A Nutshell: Thirty percent of Blazin’ Squad follow up their top five debut single Baby Goodbye and top twenty follow up One More Night Alone with 15 varied pop tracks making up their album, released on their own Longside Records label.
What’s It Like? Listening to Times Like These shows that the Friday Hill boys obviously weren’t the urban side of things in their former group. Mus, James and Kenzie have released a varied pop album, influenced by everyone from East 17 (Baby Goodbye) to chill out folks like Zero 7 (Fine) to New Order (Stand Up). This is a fine album, with more hits than misses, but it’s not really strong enough to succeed without some outside push. If it had come out a year ago it might have worked but unfortunately for Friday Hill in 2006 it’s Preston who’s saved his pop career thanks to Big Brother.
Killer: Back To You, Baby Goodbye, Stand Up, Over The Wall
Filler: Shallow, Down To Earth, I Want You, My Apple
